Ranked by the MotorFiable Score of the whole car, out of 10: half comes from its engines and the other half from the rest of the car (gearbox, suspension, brakes, electronics…). Only cars with solid evidence are included: at least 3 sources and 5 documented faults. A car with few documented faults may simply be a car that has been little studied, not a reliable one, which is why it is not scored in these rankings.
Of the 317 cars with solid evidence, the one with the highest score is the MG ZS I (8.8/10). Followed by the Opel Vivaro B (8.5) and the Suzuki S-Cross II (8.3).

Rankings by system
How it is calculated
For each car we calculate two indices from 0 to 100 using the same formula we use for engines (the three most serious faults, weighting severity and frequency): one from the average of its documented engines and one from its non-engine faults. The final score is the average of the two. Faults that the manufacturer fixes free of charge under a recall carry less weight: once the campaign has been carried out, the defect is corrected. A low index does not guarantee that a particular car will not fail: it means we have found fewer serious, frequent documented faults. More recent models have been on the road for fewer years and may have fewer documented faults: preferably compare cars from the same period. Full methodology
