eCall system

eCall, mandatory on new cars type-approved in the European Union since 2018, automatically calls 112 after a serious accident and sends the car's position. Several manufacturers have run campaigns because the system might not call or might send incorrect data.

What to do

If a warning about the emergency call system appears, take it to the official dealer: it does not affect driving, but eCall might not work in an accident. Use the VIN to check whether your car has an outstanding update.
