1.0 T3 and 1.3 T4 FireFly Turbo engine: faults and reliability

FCA/Stellantis FireFly Turbo GSE 1.0 T3 and 1.3 T4 (incl. 4xe) · Jeep, Fiat and Alfa Romeo

The FireFly turbo 1.0 T3 and 1.3 T4 show no systemic fault in open sources; there are only isolated cases of jerking with replacement of the MultiAir block on the 1.0 and one engine failure on a 1.3. The evidence is thin and is not a guarantee of reliability.[1][2]

What the 1.0 T3 and 1.3 T4 FireFly Turbo is

The 1.0 T3 and 1.3 T4 are the turbo variants of FCA's GSE family, with direct injection and MultiAir III technology. From 2018 they replaced the 1.4 MultiAir Turbo in the Jeep Renegade, Fiat 500X and Jeep Compass, and the Fiat Tipo uses the 1.0.[3][7]

The 1.3 T4 is offered with 150 and 180 hp and is also the petrol engine of the 4xe plug-in hybrids in the Jeep Renegade, Jeep Compass and Alfa Romeo Tonale, on sale since 2021-2022. This page does not cover the 1.5 turbo mild hybrid or the 70 hp naturally aspirated engines, which are other engines in the family.[3][7]

A companion to the "0.9 TwinAir and 1.0/1.3 FireFly" page, which already describes these turbo versions; this one focuses only on the FireFly turbo and the 4xe.[3]
